Sky Tower Auckland

Jumping

Okay the Residents dared me to jump from the highest building/tower in the Southern Hemisphere--the Sky Tower in Auckland. Sooo, I did. The first step was extremely hard. I had to have a second count down. The free fall was great--almost weightless sensation. It was over in 11sec. I want to do it again.

International OB/GYN Meeting

This is the Asian and Oceanic Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology in conjunction with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of OB/GYN International Meeting. What a privilege to attend! I stand in awe of the expertise and knowledge here--from UK, Europe, China, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Egypt, Middle East, India,.....and the list goes on. The lectures have been remarkable. I am gaining an appreciation of the scope of Women's Health in other countries especially the magnitude of the problems faced in Third World Countries. We are so spoiled in the USA, and so ungrateful for our healthcare. Almost every 4-5 minutes a woman dies from postpartum hemorrhage in the world. We have a woman clinging to her life in the ICU now because of massive PPH after delivering an hour away from the Hospital and this is New Zealand! This a picture of Dr. Christopher B-Lynch who developed the B-Lynch Suture technigue for PPH.

Computer Crash

On the Auckland tour my computer crashed. It was the hard drive again (just had it replaced while I was home in the US in December). I feel like I bought a lemon. I had to send it to the company for repair. I have used Internet Cafe's, friends computers, and hospital computers, but mainly for email. Finally a couple weeks ago I gave up and bought another one--a lot more expensive here in New Zealand--but I had to have a computer for work and to communicate with home. I am still trying to get everything loaded. Sooo... pictures are on the way!
