My son Ryan has come to New Zealand for a short vacation. It is Summer vacation in the States but mid winter here in NZ. Quite the weather change--he left 94 degrees(F) in the States to wake to 34 degrees the morning after arrival. The flight from Auckland to Palmerston was clear and we got a great view of the mountains--Ruapehu snow covered on the left of the plane and Taranaki on the right side.
This weekend we were in Taupo and Rotorua, jet boating, luge, thermal walks, Maori culture, and a short visit to Waitomo caves.
